Massage Therapy

Therapeutic massage is a treatment based massage. There is an assessment of conditions, structures, misalignments, pains, and aches to create (or re-create) a better environment for the body to live. With an osteopathic based approach, all systems of the body are noted: circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, muscle, skeletal and nervous. All of these systems work together as one to help the body function, so if one system has an issue, it may show related problems on another. Following the assessment, a traditional Swedish massage will be performed with advanced techniques that offer therapy to the dysfunctional area being addressed.

The first appointment will require 60 minutes for a full assessment.

Relaxation massage begins with a general/verbal assessment keeping the client’s lifestyle and complaint in mind. The main purpose is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. It helps shorten recovery times from muscular strain by flushing the tissue of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. Swedish massage also stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them subtle and pliable and stimulates the skin and nervous system. It reduces both emotional and physical stress.

Lymphatic Massage

Lymphatic Massage is a distinct style of massage. A case history is taken as well as an assessment of areas affected by edemas and inflammation to ascertain which protocols of Lymphatic Massage will be most beneficial. Targeting the lymphatic system within the skin very light pressure is used to stimulate the lymphatic system to activate and reduce the edema or swelling.

Compression bandages are used after the treatment and help reduce the edema between appointments and can be purchased at the clinic.

Clients who have heart, liver or kidney conditions must consult their doctor before Lymphatic Massage is performed.

Tanning beds, when used properly, can aid in natural Vitamin D production. Helping boost the immune system and can reduce the effects of depression and Seasonal Affected Disorder (SAD). UV radiation has also shown to help balance hormone production, which can aid in the reduction of eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

At Kneaded Time, we recommend that clients use the tanning bed in the colder months when your sun exposure is reduced. Working up to 10 min/week, you will gain the previously mentioned health benefits while reducing the health risks of UV radiation exposure.

Infrared Sauna

Our sauna is a Low EMF (Electromagnetic Field) Far Infrared Sauna. Some health benefits may include detoxification, relaxation, pain relief, weight loss, improved circulation, skin purification. While scientific studies have not definitively concluded that all these advantages might occur, our primary focus with our sauna is to prepare tissues to be treated.

Our infrared sauna runs at a warm, relaxing temperature of 125F to warm-up the muscles and connective tissue while also increasing circulation. This preparation allows our therapists to target the dysfunctional tissue quicker providing a better treatment.

You have the option of adding a sauna session onto your massage treatment, or you can schedule a sauna session without a massage treatment. The cost remains the same.
